About Me

My journey has traversed cities, states and continents and I’ve landed here in Southeast Queensland from a small town in the middle of Michigan (USA).

I’ve had a lot of titles and worn many hats throughout my career, in the education system, and worked in incredibly diverse environments. My teaching experiences span K-12 + tertiary levels, in physical education & special education; including work in a special school for behaviour. There is little that I haven’t seen or experienced.

One thing remained the same wherever I taught - a sense that something wasn’t quite right within the system. Sometimes this was due to decisions made by bureaucrats, other times, due to a lack of knowledge and awareness of people within the system itself.

After nearly 20 years in the public education sector, a Bachelors degree (Physical Education) and 2 Master’s degrees (Educational Leadership & Special Education), I decided to step away.

My thoughts and beliefs no longer coincided with “the system.” Many people attempt to change the system from within, but I knew that was not my path. I knew I could make more of an impact helping families and supporting schools if I were outside the school system.

I am a massive advocate for freedom, in all senses of the word. I have that now and want to help others to have the same. Whether it is:

  • Freedom for your child to attend school with reasonable adjustments in place

  • Freedom to exit the system, and access support through tutoring

  • Freedom to engage in play-based learning through Dungeons & Dragons

  • Freedom to live the life you want to because your nervous system is regulated

  • Freedom to make decisions based on the knowledge of what is best for your child, as an individual

I am here to support you, and share my professional knowledge + experience, combined with my lived experience of parenting a child with autism and a PDA profile. I’ve experienced and overcome parenting burnout and lived to tell the tale!

If you’re familiar with Human Design, a personality matrix similar to the Myers-Briggs model, I’m a Manifestor. This means that I’m often ahead of the pack, sharing avant-garde ideas OR that my ideas are too much for some people. I don’t hold back.

That might freak you out, which is ok!! I am not everyone’s cup of tea. But, I am here for the parents and educators who are ready for a paradigm shift, and to move outside the box.

If that sounds like you, get in touch and decide how to best work together to meet you, your family’s needs or your school’s needs.
