Disability Legislation

The Disability Standards for Education Act of 2005 governs all policy, and procedure for children with additional needs in schools - public and private. It is a part of the Disability Discrimination Act of 1992.

Heaps of concerned parents have contacted me saying that their child isn't getting any additional support at school; that the school has said they are not eligible for support; or that the school doesn't have enough funding to support them.

While there is a disparity between Federal law, funding & State funding (that provides most of the special education monies), our children should not be missing out because of it.
